Overview
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking team member to join us at our children’s play café on The Broadway, Debden.
10–20 hours per week, with the main shift being Saturdays, plus some possible weekday shifts depending on availability.
You must be over 18 and available to work weekends.
We’re looking for someone who ideally lives locally and is comfortable working in a busy, family-focused environment, enjoys being around children and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed.
Barista or café experience is a big plus!
Duties
- Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prepare and serve desserts, light food, hot and cold drinks.
- Ensure and maintain cleanliness and safety across all areas, including soft play, café, kitchen, and toilets.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of birthday parties and special events.
- Help create a fun and memorable experience for families.
- Monitor safe use of play equipment and report hazards or maintenance issues immediately.
- Maintain high presentation standards.
- Follow food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Take orders, process payments, and handle enquiries efficiently.
- Create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere and work effectively as part of the team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality or as a barista is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required.
- Organised with good time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Enthusiastic about working with children, parents and creating a welcoming environment.
- Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends and school holidays.
- Training in food safety, hygiene, and allergen awareness will be required as part of this role.
A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required for this role.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
