About Mawdsleys
At Mawdsleys, we're a leading pharmaceutical service provider and the UK's largest independent pharmaceutical wholesaler. With over 200 years of heritage, we play a vital role in ensuring medicines reach healthcare providers and patients safely, efficiently and reliably.
We're proud to have been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026, reflecting our commitment to creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and able to develop.
We're now looking for a driven and detail-focused National Transport Project Manager to lead continuous change initiatives across our Transport operations and help us improve safety, compliance, service quality and operational efficiency.
The Role
As our National Transport Project Manager, you'll take ownership of business-identified transport projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
Working closely with the Transport Management team and stakeholders across the business, you'll develop project plans, coordinate resources, monitor performance and ensure changes deliver measurable results.
You'll be joining a highly regulated, pharmaceutical-focused supply chain environment, where all projects must support patient safety and maintain the highest standards of Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys challenging existing ways of working, building strong stakeholder relationships and turning ideas into practical improvements.
Roles and Responsibilities
As our National Transport Project Manager, you will:
- Manage a portfolio of Transport projects in partnership with the Transport Management team, taking projects from initial business need through to successful completion.
- Design and improve processes that support the safe and efficient movement of pharmaceuticals from goods receipt through to final-mile delivery.
- Ensure projects comply with GDP principles, Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and patient safety standards.
- Build, manage and control detailed project plans, coordinating stakeholders, project team members and resources to achieve agreed objectives.
- Chair project meetings and calls, provide regular status updates and present project performance and KPI information to management.
- Prepare financial justification and business case documentation, supporting post-project reviews including ROI and results measurement.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying issues, challenging existing processes and developing practical solutions.
What We're Looking For From You
We're looking for a confident and organised National Transport Project Manager who can bring people together, manage competing priorities and drive projects through to completion.
You'll have:
- Education to GCSE/O-Level standard or above, alongside experience or education in project design and management.
- Confidence chairing and facilitating meetings with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent planning, prioritisation and deadline management skills.
- The ability to delegate effectively, manage resources and set clear objectives for others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to engage colleagues at all levels.
- Sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills.
- A conscientious approach with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to travel for business purposes when required.
It would be great if you also have:
- A degree-level qualification in Project Management.
- Knowledge of transport operations and systems.
- An understanding of Operator's Licence requirements.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Teams and Word.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and systems.
- A good understanding of GDP, ideally gained within a GDP-regulated environment.
What We Offer
- Health Cash Plan with Westfield Health.
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
- Annual leave loyalty days scheme.
- Cycle to Work scheme.
- Retail discount scheme.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Opportunities to develop your career within a growing pharmaceutical logistics business.
