TEAM LEADER, FLOW MONITORING (SENIOR WATER TECHNICIAN)
£32,000 per year, plus overtime, overnight allowances, performance bonus, laptop and phone
Permanent, full time. Based Huntingdon, leading work across South East
We are looking for a Team Leader to take charge of a small field team installing and maintaining flow monitoring equipment in live sewers and watercourses. You will still be hands on, in the manhole, on the ladder, doing the work alongside your crew.
The difference is that the quality of the installation, the accuracy of the data and the safety of the people around you all sit with you.
You already know how to do this job. The question is whether you want to be the one running it.
ABOUT ENVIROMONTEL
We are a specialist environmental field services business. We install, maintain and certify the monitors and data loggers that tell water companies what is actually happening inside their networks, from live foul and storm sewers to rivers, reservoirs and culverts. That data is what allows our clients to understand their assets, build resilience and cut pollution.
The scale of it: more than 4,000 monitors maintained every month, over 100 vans on the road across the UK, and more than 240 people. We are accredited by CHAS, SMAS, Achilles and FORS, and certified to ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001. In plain terms, we do this properly and we do it safely.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Leading a small team of technicians on installation, maintenance and survey work across South East and nationally
Making sure equipment is installed, maintained and calibrated correctly, first time
Owning the accuracy of the data your team collects, and the quality standards it is measured against
Running safe systems of work on site, from confined space entry and winching to working at height and Chapter 8 signage
Briefing, mentoring and developing your technicians, including bringing on new starters who are learning the job from scratch
Being the face of the business on site with our clients, and dealing with what comes up rather than escalating it
Reporting to your Regional Manager on progress, problems and people
WHAT THE JOB ASKS OF YOU
We would rather tell you now than at interview:
You will be away from home during the week on a regular basis. We pay overnight allowances on top of salary, some night work is required.
Confined space entry, working at height and handling heavy equipment are all part of it, so you need to be physically fit
Full clean (maximum 3 points) driving licence held for at least two years, as you will be driving a company vehicle
Drug and alcohol testing at induction and periodically thereafter
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience in sewer networks, drainage, water, utilities or a similar field environment would be ideal.
Leadership that people actually respond to. You do not need to have held the title before, but you do need to have been the person the crew looks to
A working understanding of survey and monitoring equipment, or the technical confidence to pick it up quickly
Genuine commitment to safety, because you will be responsible for other people underground
The customer skills to hold a conversation with a client on site and leave them satisfied
If you are a technician who has been running the job informally for a while without the title or the money, this is the step up.
WHAT YOU GET
£32,000 per year [plus overtime and overnight allowances]
Yearly bonus
Company pension
Gym membership
Free on-site parking
Company events
City & Guilds accredited training, funded, with a team who deliver it in-house
A permanent job with a business that is growing rapidly with clear routes for progression for those who want it.
