Duties
- Dispense prescription medications accurately in accordance with medical prescriptions and legal regulations.
- Offer expert guidance to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and review treatment plans, ensuring safe medication administration.
- Monitor patient responses to prescribed therapies and adjust medication plans as necessary in consultation with physicians.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of all dispensed medications and patient interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, safety standards, and organisational policies.
- Provide education on health and wellness topics relevant to medication management and overall patient care.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
Skills
- Proven experience working within an ICU environment is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and compassionately.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced settings while maintaining accuracy.
- Organised with meticulous attention to detail to prevent errors in dispensing or documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and relevant legal requirements governing pharmaceutical practice.
