About us:
West 1 Castings is a small lost-wax casting business, offering mould making and precious metal castings.
About the role:
You will be working alongside a small team in the production of wax models, through to the metal castings.
Your main role as casting assistant means you will be primarily needed in the processing of the metal castings in the kiln room.
You will also be investing the flasks, which involves the mixing of investment powder. This will require you to be physically able to lift heavy objects and deal with basic mathematics.
When you are not in the kiln/investment room, you will be upstairs in the wax production workshop. This is where you will be injecting moulds with wax to create intricate wax models for casting. Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination are necessary.
This is a small team, so all staff are expected to ‘fill in’ for each other where necessary and fulfil any extra jobs that need doing - be it sweeping the floor or transporting goods to the London office.
Responsibilities:
- Processing metal castings.
- Investing flasks.
- Injecting wax moulds and checking for quality.
- Transporting goods to and from the London office when necessary.
- Cleaning where necessary.
- You MUST be willing to get stuck in wherever needed.
Candidate requirements:
- No qualifications necessary, as full training will be provided. However, you must have good English and basic maths skills.
- You must be an excellent team player but also willing to work on your own.
- You need to be physically able to do some heavy lifting.
- Good eyesight is also necessary, as there is a lot of close up work involved.
