At Department of Coffee and Social Affairs we want to create a coffee shop that is a meeting point for friends, family and colleagues to gather, to converse and to socialise - and enjoy great coffee.
We are currently looking for an experienced barista for our flagship, high street store in Carnaby Street. You will have a deep passion and understanding for coffee and customer service. We are looking for a passionate go-getter, who demonstrates love and knowledge for great coffee and engaging customer service. We provide specialty coffee, both filter and espresso-based, working with our sister company, Small Batch Coffee Roasters, to provide a seasonally changing menu of coffee beans.
We are a high volume coffee shop, preparing up to 400 coffees per day on our E65 GBWs and La Marzocco Linea PB.
We are searching for an experienced and energetic hospitality specialist who is looking for a genuine career in the Speciality Coffee Industry. You will have a great nose for coffee and a passion for providing the highest quality in all aspects of the role. Be an enthusiastic team player, help out in all areas of the shop whilst simultaneously ensuring the quality and consistency of every coffee or breakfast made. This role will require you to be available on weekends and some evenings.
THE ROLE
- Deliver top rate customer services at all times
- Be a quality coffee champion
- To make and serve espresso-based and filter coffees
- Support the Manager in relation to quality control
- Support your colleagues and work in all areas of the shop
- Contribute to the smooth daily running of the store, including maintenance and cleaning
- Follow health and safety guidelines.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Ability to demonstrate superior customer service (essential)
- Be able to maintain coffee quality and workflow in a fast-paced environment
- Be a skilled barista, with experience of working with multiple coffee
- Understand milk texturing, brew ratios and extraction and be able to produce latte art patterns
- Have an engaging personality to both new and regular customers
- Have attention to detail with a can-do attitude approach to work
- Wants to build a career in the hospitality industry
