Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a VFX Executive, specialising in Generative AI & VFX Workflows to drive the practical adoption, integration and operationalisation of generative AI tools and emerging technology workflows across the International Originals slate. This role sits at the intersection of creative excellence and technological innovation, acting as the connective tissue between AI strategy and production-floor execution.
Reporting directly to the Head of VFX, International Originals, you will be responsible for translating high-level AI and creative technology strategies into tangible, production-ready workflows that enhance creative output, improve efficiency, and maintain the highest quality standards across projects spanning Europe, Canada, Central and South America, APAC and India.
This is not a purely technical role, it demands someone who understands VFX production culture, creative sensitivities around AI adoption and who can navigate the human side of technology integration with empathy and authority.
Key job responsibilities
Execute hands-on generative AI VFX work on active IO productions.
Identify, scope and validate GenAI use cases on individual titles, quantifying potential savings and added value at the project level.
Evaluate, pilot and operationalise generative AI tools (image generation, video synthesis, 3D asset creation) for integration into active VFX pipelines
Design and document standardised GenAI workflows, SOPs, scalable adoption frameworks and technical reference documents providing repeatable, reusable methodologies across productions and territories
Build and maintain a living catalogue of approved AI tools, capabilities and use-case guidance for VFX Supervisors, Producers and vendor partners
Partner with Production Companies, VFX teams and VFX Vendors across all IO territories to identify workflow pain points where AI-augmented solutions deliver value
Assess VFX vendor AI capabilities, build relationships and validate vendor GenAI readiness for IO productions
Collaborate with Tech Ops, Studios Technology and central Studios teams to ensure alignment between production needs and enterprise-wide technology initiatives
Design and deliver training programmes and workshops to upskill internal teams and production partners, tailoring approaches to different regional readiness levels.
Organise and deliver flagship vendor knowledge-sharing events and contribute to cross-studio networking initiatives
Partner with Legal, Content Security, and internal teams to ensure AI tool usage complies with rights, licensing, IP, and data governance requirements
Monitor evolving industry standards and regulatory developments relating to AI in entertainment production
Provide regular reporting on AI adoption metrics, project outcomes, cost savings delivered, and emerging opportunity areas to IOPP leadership
- Extensive experience in VFX production, post-production, or creative technology roles within film, episodic television, or streaming entertainment
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with generative AI tools and workflows in a production or creative technology context
- Strong understanding of end-to-end VFX pipelines, from pre-production through final delivery
- Proven ability to drive technology adoption and change management within creative production environments
- Experience working cross-functionally with creative, production, post, legal and technology stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience developing training materials, SOPs, or workflow documentation
- Experience in an executive, supervisory, or lead role within a major studio, streamer, or large-scale VFX facility
- Experience working within a large-scale tech-entertainment organisation
- Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, not necessarily as a developer, but sufficient to evaluate tools, assess capabilities, and engage meaningfully with technical teams
- Knowledge of current industry debates around AI ethics, talent relations, and guild/union positions on AI in production
- Experience with virtual production, real-time rendering (Unreal Engine), or cloud-based production workflows
- Regional or international production experience, particularly across multiple territories and cultures
- Experience with production tracking tools (Airtable, ShotGrid, ftrack) and how AI might augment production management workflows
- Familiarity with IP rights, licensing, and data governance considerations as they relate to AI-generated content
