Are you an experienced Tool Fitter or Plant Fitter looking for your next opportunity? Do you enjoy fault-finding, repairing and maintaining a wide range of hire equipment in a fast-paced workshop environment?
We're looking for a motivated and reliable Tool Fitter to join a busy workshop team, ensuring hire equipment is maintained to the highest standards and ready for customers when they need it.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in delivering quality repairs and excellent service.
The Role
As a Tool Fitter, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of small plant and portable hire equipment, ensuring everything is safe, compliant and ready for hire.
The equipment you'll work on includes:
- Press fitting tools
- Ridgid threading machines
- Drills
- Grinders
- Portable power tools
- A variety of other small hire equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair a wide range of small plant and hire equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults.
- Prepare equipment for hire, ensuring it is safe, fully operational and presented to a high standard.
- Carry out pre-hire and post-hire inspections, identifying damage, missing items and any repair requirements.
- Complete service and repair records accurately using workshop maintenance systems.
- Carry out routine safety inspections, ensuring equipment complies with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Assist with the safe loading and unloading of hire equipment when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Work closely with the wider workshop team to ensure customer demands and deadlines are met.
- Take part in ongoing training and development to keep technical knowledge up to date.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience repairing and maintaining plant, tools or hire equipment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience within the plant or tool hire industry would be advantageous but isn't essential.
- Ability to work efficiently whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- A flexible, positive approach with the ability to prioritise workload in a busy workshop.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to support the wider depot operation.
- Physically fit due to the nature of the role and equipment handled.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent mechanical qualification.
