Due to continued growth, we are now looking for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager / Qualified Supervisor to join our team and help oversee projects, support our engineers and maintain the high standards our clients expect.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional who is ready to take on a key operational role within a growing business.
You will oversee a varied portfolio of projects, predominantly higher-end residential, commercial and light industrial, taking work from initial pricing and client liaison through to final handover, including O&M manuals, certification and sign-offs where required.
You will work closely with site teams, in-house engineers, subcontractors and the accounts/back-office team to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the day-to-day operational lead across allocated projects and teams
- Managing a varied portfolio of higher-end residential, commercial and light industrial projects
- Taking contracts from initial pricing and client liaison through to final handover
- Leading and supervising subcontractors, engineers and site teams
- Acting as the business’s Qualified Supervisor, ensuring installations meet BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant Codes of Practice
- Managing labour allocation, materials and contract requirements to keep projects running efficiently and within budget
- Supporting financial planning, risk management and forecasting across the project portfolio
- Attending client meetings, completing site surveys and supporting accurate project planning
- Monitoring project progress, reporting on completed works and escalating issues as required
- Providing technical guidance and support to engineers in the field
- Supporting delivery of electrical compliance services where required
- Completing, reviewing and approving associated paperwork, EICs, handover documents and certification
- Providing regular reporting on project status, budgets, cost control and timelines
- Supporting business growth through planning, resource management and operational input
Essential Requirements
- Experience as an Electrical Contracts Manager, Project Manager or senior electrical supervisor within the electrical industry
- A minimum of two years’ experience in periodic inspection and testing
- Demonstrable experience across higher-end domestic, commercial and/or light industrial projects
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing project costs, budgets and risk
- Solid knowledge of BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant health and safety legislation
- Excellent leadership, communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills
- Experience delivering electrical compliance services, including EICRs and emergency lighting
- Legal right to work in the UK, with proof of eligibility required before starting employment
- Valid UK driving licence and ability to work in person and travel to sites as required
- Ideally based within 30 to 40 minutes of the office
Essential Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Testing & Inspection, or City & Guilds 2394 and 2395 Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection & Testing
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations / 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations, C&G 2382-18 or later
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation
Desirable Requirements
- ECS Contracts Manager card / CSCS Black Card
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ECS JIB Approved Electrician card / CSCS Gold Card
- Experience acting as a Qualified Supervisor
- Experience working with local authority clients and managing subcontractors or in-house engineers
