An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Early Years Apprentice to join our childcare setting. The successful candidate will support the care, learning, and development of children aged 0–5 years while working towards a recognised Early Years qualification. This role is designed to provide practical experience within a nursery environment alongside structured training, supporting the apprentice to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required within the Early Years sector.
The apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced practitioners to help create a safe, caring, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes children’s wellbeing and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily care, learning, and development of children aged 0–5 years in accordance with the EYFS framework.
- Assist in planning and delivering stimulating, age-appropriate activities to support children’s learning and development.
- Work alongside qualified practitioners to maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
- Support children’s emotional wellbeing and encourage positive behaviour and independence.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with children, parents/carers, colleagues, and other professionals.
- Observe children’s development and contribute to assessments and learning records under supervision.
- Assist with daily routines, including meal times, personal care, nappy changing, toileting, and hygiene procedures.
- Help prepare and organise resources, activities, and learning environments.
- Support indoor and outdoor play activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organisation within the setting in line with health and safety requirements.
- Follow all safeguarding, child protection, equality, diversity, and inclusion policies and procedures.
- Attend training sessions, reviews, team meetings, and complete all apprenticeship coursework within agreed timescales.
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
