Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 2 Skip Driver to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a Class 2 Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) to deliver and collect skips across various locations. Your expertise in commercial driving, coupled with your knowledge of skip operations and delivery procedures, will ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle to transport skips to and from designated sites, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load, secure, and unload skips using appropriate equipment, ensuring stability and safety during transit
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts, reporting any maintenance issues promptly
- Plan delivery routes efficiently to meet deadlines while optimizing fuel consumption and operational costs
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries, pickups, and address any on-site issues
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, mileage, and vehicle logs in compliance with company policies
- Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial delivery driver, specifically with HGV Class 2 vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles
- Demonstrated knowledge of skip operations, including loading, unloading, and handling of waste containers
- Familiarity with flatbed driving or similar transportation methods is advantageous
- Valid HGV Class 2 driving license with a clean driving record
- Delivery driver experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures
