1. Role Purpose
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the marketing, communications, design and events programme for Brixton BID. The role will strengthen engagement with BID levy payers, promote Brixton as London's most vibrant destination, enhance the BID's brand presence, and support the successful delivery of events and campaigns that drive footfall, business growth and community engagement.
Working across both B2B and B2C audiences, the Marketing Manager will lead on strategic marketing activity, content creation, digital communications, brand management and event promotion while ensuring all activity supports the BID's business plan and objectives.
The salary range is pro rata.
2. Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Destination Promotion (30%)
- Develop and implement Brixton BID's annual marketing strategy and campaign plans.
- Promote Brixton as a leading destination for retail, hospitality, culture, leisure and business.
- Manage digital marketing channels including website, email marketing.
- Liaise with Social Media & Content Manager for social media communication
- Deliver seasonal campaigns, placemaking initiatives and destination marketing projects.
- Monitor campaign performance through analytics, reporting and audience insights.
- Manage marketing budgets and external suppliers where required.
- Identify opportunities for partnership marketing and sponsorship activity.
- Manage initiatives driving physical and digital footfall to Brixton, eg. Gift Brixton, local gift card programme.
Design & Brand Management (30%)
- Maintain and evolve the Brixton BID brand across all channels and touchpoints.
- Design and produce marketing collateral including digital assets, presentations, reports, signage and promotional materials.
- Manage creative production for campaigns, events and public realm projects.
- Ensure brand consistency across social media, website, print and external communications.
- Brief and manage freelance designers, photographers, videographers and creative agencies when required.
- Develop visual content that reflects Brixton's unique identity and culture.
Communications & Stakeholder Engagement (20%)
- Lead all BID communications to levy-paying businesses and stakeholders.
- Produce regular newsletters, member updates, reports and business communications.
- Create compelling content including articles, case studies, blogs and press releases.
- Manage media relations and PR opportunities to raise Brixton's profile.
- Maintain CRM and stakeholder databases ensuring accurate contact information.
- Support member engagement through surveys, consultations and networking initiatives.
- Communicate the value and impact of BID services and investments to members.
Events & Activations (20%)
- Support the planning, marketing and delivery of BID events, festivals, business networking activities and public activations.
- Coordinate event promotion across all marketing and communication channels.
- Liaise with venues, suppliers, contractors, sponsors and partners.
- Support event logistics, stakeholder communications and attendee engagement.
- Measure event impact through attendance, engagement and business feedback.
- Capture and repurpose event content for future marketing campaigns.
3. Person Specification
- Marketing management experience, ideally in place marketing, destination management, culture, retail, hospitality or regeneration.
- Strong copywriting and communication skills.
- Graphic design capability using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
- Experience managing websites, email marketing and social media platforms.
- Event marketing and event delivery experience.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently within a small, fast-paced team.
- Proactive, creative, and solutions-focused approach
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across teams
- Interest in place-making, culture, or urban regeneration (desirable)
