Automation Technician – AGV / Robotics
Location: Dagenham, London - Onsite
Contract: Long-term (12 months+) ( Open to Perm & Contract)
Salary Range - £35,000 -£38,000

We are currently supporting one of our clients in their search for an Automation Technician to join a cutting-edge Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) project! In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of AGVs and associated automation equipment. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of complex electromechanical systems, supporting our client's commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. This is a dynamic, on-site position where your technical skills and proactive approach will make a real impact every day.
Responsibilities
- Carry out electromechanical assembly, installation, testing and troubleshooting of AGVs and associated automation equipment
- Perform technical tests based on available instructions and documentation
- Identify, analyse and report technical, performance and quality issues
- Support the diagnosis and resolution of faults affecting AGVs and related systems
- Liaise and cooperate with team leaders, clients, contractors and other stakeholders on technical matters
- Determine the resources, tools and materials required to resolve technical issues
- Track, handle and correctly store materials, tools and equipment intended for installation
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area
- Provide technical guidance and coordinate the activities of less experienced team members, when required
- Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
- Contribute to the safety of all team members, contractors and site visitors
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' relevant professional experience
- Proven experience working with automated systems, preferably Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
- Strong understanding of electromechanical equipment and industrial automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, manuals and documentation with ease
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive mindset for identifying root causes
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across a multidisciplinary team and document technical issues clearly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Available to work on-site full-time in Dagenham, London
- A relevant professional qualification is preferred, though not essential, in areas such as Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Maintenance
