Interim Finance Specialist

We are recruiting an Interim Finance Specialist to provide senior-level financial expertise and support across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong financial management, reporting, and analytical skills, ideally gained within a local authority or public sector environment.
About the Role
As an Interim Finance Specialist, you will provide expert financial support, helping to drive effective financial management, reporting, and decision-making across the organisation. You will work closely with internal teams and key stakeholders to ensure financial governance, compliance, and planning activities are delivered to a high standard.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing senior-level finance support and expertise across the organisation
- Supporting financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making processes
- Reviewing and interpreting financial information to identify trends, risks, and issues
- Assisting with budget monitoring and financial planning activities
- Providing accurate and timely financial advice to stakeholders
- Maintaining high standards of financial governance and compliance
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and key stakeholders to achieve financial objectives
Requirements
We're looking for an experienced finance professional with excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong experience working in a senior finance role
- Excellent knowledge of financial management and reporting processes
- Ability to analyse complex financial information and provide clear, practical advice
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Right to work in the UK
- Relevant qualifications, licences, or professional registrations required for the role
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a local authority or public sector environment
- Experience supporting financial projects or transformation programmes
- Knowledge of local government finance processes
