Job Overview
STANMORE MEDICAL GROUP is a forward thinking, dynamic, technologically driven, expanding and modern General Practice. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Deputy Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will support the management in coordinating and overseeing the organisation’s financial operations, with the aim of optimising financial efficiency and performance to meet the organisation's long-term strategic goals. This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week, exact hours and salary are to be discussed at interview.
Primary Key Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Deputy Finance Manager. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Maintain Financial Records: Accurately maintain financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, and perform bank reconciliations.
- Financial Statements and Analysis: Prepare and analyse financial statements, providing insights to support decision-making.
- Claims & Queries: Address and follow up on claims and queries with commissioning bodies, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Cash Flow and Budgeting: Accurately monitor cash flow, forecast, and predict workflow corresponding to income, and assist with budgeting processes.
- Invoice and Payment Management: Ensure invoices are paid within the given time frame and process invoices and payments efficiently.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly financial reports to a high standard, providing insights for decision-making.
- Financial Controls & Compliance: Ensure effective financial controls are in place, and that processes are adhered to, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Operational Support: Collaborate with the finance team and management to improve financial performance and contribute to the overall success of the practice.
- General Financial Support: Provide support in managing petty cash, processing payments, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Secondary Responsibilities
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Deputy Finance Manager may be required to:
- Deputise for the Finance Manager: Step in for the Finance Manager during their absence, ensuring continuity of financial operations.
- Point of Contact: Act as a point of contact for finance-related matters with NHS England (NHS E), the Integrated Care Board (ICB), and the organisation's accountant.
- Audit Participation: Participate in audits as requested by the audit lead, ensuring compliance and transparency in financial processes.
- Management Meetings: Attend and actively participate in practice management meetings, providing input on financial matters and contributing to overall decision-making.
- External Meetings: Attend external meetings pertinent to the role of the Deputy Finance Manager, representing the practice’s financial interests as needed.
- Colleague Support: Provide support to colleagues as needed, including covering for annual leave, assisting with workloads during sickness, and offering guidance to trainees or newly appointed team members, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- ICB Relations: Maintain an effective working relationship with the ICB, ensuring the organisation receives a proportionate and equitable allocation of resources.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organisation complies with relevant CQC regulations and NHS targets.
- Flexibility and Other Tasks: Remain flexible and contribute to additional tasks or projects required to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.
