HR Officer – Banbury
Fine Lady Bakeries
Banbury, Oxfordshire
Full Time | Monday–Friday
Salary: £37,000 per annum
Ready for an HR role where you can really make an impact?
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic HR Officer to join our HR team at Fine Lady Bakeries in Banbury.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, building relationships with managers and employees, and getting involved in the full range of day-to-day HR activity.
Fine Lady Bakeries is a fast-paced food manufacturing business, and no two days in HR are quite the same. You could be supporting a manager with an employee relations matter, welcoming a new starter, reviewing absence, helping recruit our next team member or getting involved in a wider HR project.
You’ll be part of a supportive HR team, but you'll also have the opportunity to take ownership, build your experience and make a genuine contribution to how we manage and develop our people.
What you’ll be doing
As our HR Officer, you’ll provide practical, first-line HR support to managers and employees across the employee lifecycle.
Your role will include:
- Advising and supporting managers on day-to-day HR and employee relations matters.
- Managing routine disciplinary, grievance, absence, welfare and performance cases.
- Supporting investigations and formal meetings and preparing appropriate documentation.
- Building strong relationships with managers and maintaining a visible HR presence across the site.
- Supporting short and long-term absence management, Occupational Health referrals and return-to-work processes.
- Coordinating recruitment, interviews, offers, pre-employment checks and onboarding.
- Preparing contracts, letters and other employee documentation.
- Monitoring probationary periods and ensuring reviews are completed on time.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and supporting payroll with accurate HR information.
- Producing HR reports and management information.
- Supporting employee engagement, wellbeing, recognition and employee survey activity.
- Getting involved in HR projects and helping us identify better, simpler and more effective ways of working.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is practical, approachable and solutions-focused, with the confidence to work with managers at all levels.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Previous experience as an HR Officer, HR Advisor or similar HR generalist.
- Experience working within manufacturing, logistics, food production or another fast-paced operational environment.
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting managers with employee relations cases.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The confidence to work independently, use your judgement and know when something needs to be escalated.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several priorities at once.
- A CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Experience of HR systems, time and attendance systems, unionised environments or food/FMCG manufacturing would be an advantage.
Why Fine Lady Bakeries?

- Work closely with managers and make a visible difference to the way people are managed.
