Ecoglass Ltd is looking for a reliable and motivated Factory Operative to join our Despatch Department on the backshift. This is a key role within our production team, ensuring finished glass units are inspected, prepared and loaded safely for delivery to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
As a Factory Operative in our Despatch Department, your duties will include:
- Inspecting finished glass units to ensure they meet our quality standards.
- Polishing out minor scratches and rectifying other cosmetic defects where possible.
- Applying protective tape to glass units prior to despatch.
- Reading and understanding product labels to ensure accurate order fulfilment.
- Loading glass units into the correct customer racks.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area.
- Following all company Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- Supporting the wider production and despatch team as required.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous glass handling or manufacturing experience (desirable).
- A First Aid certificate (desirable)
- A positive, proactive "can-do" attitude.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Confidence in handling glass safely.
- A good level of physical fitness, as this is a physically demanding role.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 4:00 pm – 1:30 am, Friday 4:00pm - 8:00pm
- Please note that start and finish times may vary slightly to meet production requirements.
Training
Successful applicants may need to complete an initial 2–3 week training period on the day shift:
- Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
Following successful training, you will transfer to the permanent backshift hours outlined above.
