The Matron for Community Nursing post is a Band 8a senior clinical leadership role responsible for providing visible, professional leadership to community nursing teams across Oxfordshire. The role focuses on maintaining and improving standards of care, supporting safe and effective service delivery, responding to patient and carer experience, and ensuring community services meet regulatory, clinical and professional standards.
Main responsibilities include:
Providing clinical leadership, direction and role modelling for community nursing teams and managers.
Promoting innovation, service improvement and effective partnership working across health, social care, voluntary and independent sector organisations.
Ensuring high standards of care, infection prevention, clinical practice, patient dignity and safety are implemented, maintained and monitored.
Listening and responding to patient, family and carer feedback, concerns and complaints, and ensuring learning leads to improvement.
Supporting clinical governance, audit, benchmarking, quality improvement, risk management and CQC compliance.
Investigating complaints, incidents and near misses, ensuring learning is shared and embedded across services.
Supporting safe systems of work, including lone working, business continuity, emergency planning and major incident response.
Developing staff capability through supervision, appraisal, preceptorship, education, mentorship, CPD and workforce development planning.
Working with service managers and senior leaders to manage resources responsibly, minimise waste and oversee delegated budgets where applicable.
Maintaining clinical credibility by working clinically within community nursing for at least one day each month.
