Assistant Facilities Manager

Sodexo is looking for an experienced and proactive Assistant Facilities Manager to oversee the delivery of integrated facilities management services at a key client location in Edinburgh.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team with an October 2026 start date.

As Sodexo's principal on-site contact, you'll coordinate catering, cleaning, security and wider facilities services, ensuring safe, compliant and customer-focused operations that deliver an outstanding workplace experience.
The Role
Reporting to the Regional Facilities Services Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership to the Catering Lead, Security Supervisor and Cleaning team while coordinating specialist contractors, suppliers and engineering support.
You'll maintain a visible presence on site, monitor service performance, manage operational issues, support compliance and drive continuous improvement across all service areas.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of catering, cleaning, security and facilities services.

Lead and support local teams, driving engagement, performance and development.

Ensure all services meet contractual standards, KPIs and customer expectations.

Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and respond professionally to service requests.

Conduct regular inspections, audits and quality checks across all service lines.

Oversee cleaning standards, schedules, equipment, stock and consumables.
-
Support the effective management of security operations, including access control, incident reporting and compliance.

Coordinate contractors, suppliers and specialist support services.
-
Promote a strong culture of health, safety, security and compliance.

Manage delegated budgets, labour, consumables and operational resources.
-
Support audits, incident management, emergency response and business continuity planning.

Identify opportunities to improve service quality, efficiency and sustainability.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a confident and organised facilities professional who enjoys managing multiple services and delivering excellent customer experiences.
Essential
-
Experience within facilities management, workplace services, security, hospitality or a similar operational environment.
-
Experience coordinating multiple service lines and leading operational teams or supervisors.
-
Good knowledge of catering, cleaning, security and general facilities management services.
-
Experience monitoring performance against KPIs, service standards and customer expectations.
-
Strong understanding of health and safety, risk management and compliance requirements.
-
Experience managing colleagues, including performance, attendance, training and development.
-
Excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.
-
Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers.
-
Strong organisational, problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to manage sensitive operational and security information with discretion and confidentiality.
-
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
-
Good IT skills, including reporting, audit, incident management and workplace management systems.
Desirable
-
IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
-
Knowledge of Security Industry Authority (SIA) requirements and experience overseeing licensed security services.

Food Safety qualification or practical catering experience.
-
Experience managing cleaning teams, including COSHH and quality assurance.
-
Experience within a corporate or client-facing environment.
-
Experience managing both directly delivered and outsourced facilities services.
-
Knowledge of emergency response, security incident management and business continuity.
-
Membership of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) or another relevant professional body.
