SALARY:
Class 2 (Days): £38,000 - £40,000 per annum
Class 1 (Nights): £42,000 per annum, OTE £49,000
LOCATION: Christchurch, Dorset, South West England
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Class 1 night shifts and Class 2 day shifts
JOB OVERVIEW
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive transport team as an HGV Driver carrying out planned deliveries and collections safely, professionally and in line with daily route schedules.
Working from the company’s depot in Christchurch, the HGV Driver will complete vehicle checks, liaise with the Traffic Office, manage delivery paperwork and provide a professional customer-facing service while on the road.
As an HGV Driver you will be part of a busy operation where safety, reliability, communication and professionalism are key to delivering an efficient service for customers.

DUTIES
Your duties as the HGV Driver include:
- Vehicle Safety: Drive to a safe standard, taking into account the size and type of vehicle being operated
- Speed Compliance: Keep within the correct speed limits for the vehicle you are driving
- Daily Vehicle Checks: Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
- Traffic Office Communication: Report any issues and collect all required paperwork from the Traffic Office
- Planned Deliveries: Carry out deliveries in line with the planned route, contacting the Traffic Office immediately if anything impacts the delivery schedule
- Collection Instructions: Contact the Traffic Office once all deliveries have been completed to receive collection instructions
- Paperwork Management: Return all completed paperwork to the Traffic Office at the end of each shift
- PPE and Uniform: Wear the supplied uniform and correct PPE for each task, including safety boots and a hi-vis jacket or vest
- Professional Standards: Follow the basic requirements set out in the RHA Professional Drivers Handbook
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Class 1 or Class 2 Driving Licence
- Driver CPC qualification card
- Completed required Driver CPC training hours
- Excellent customer-facing skills
- Good knowledge of UK roads
- Confidence to problem solve while working independently on the road
- Integrity, professionalism and a safety-focused approach
