Lloyd's Animal Feeds (CM Varley & Co Ltd) in Darlington is hiring a full-time HGV / Lorry Mechanic. You will maintain and repair their
modern fleet of rigid bulk blowing vehicles and trailers. The role offers a competitive salary, company pension, and on-site parking at their Darlington site.
Job Role
As an experienced Lorry Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Fleet Maintenance: Performing routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).
- Fault Diagnosis: Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring all repairs meet DVSA standards.
- Vehicle Prep: Preparing vehicles and trailers for annual MOT tests. On site brake rollers and head lamp beam setter.
- Breakdown Support: Attending to roadside breakdowns and assisting with vehicle recoveries when necessary.
- Compliance: Maintaining accurate and compliant workshop records.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Qualifications: Relevant industry qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance).
- Experience: Proven track record working as an HGV Mechanic or Heavy Fleet Technician, with a strong knowledge of the DVSA MOT manual.
- Licence: A valid UK driving licence. An HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence is highly advantageous, along with a valid driver card and cpc.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Bulk blowing equipment experience is a plus, but training will be given.
- Costing Control: Calling our supplies to unsure best price for parts and other services.
