Protocol Consultancy Services is a respected independent training provider that has supported thousands of young people and employers over the past 30 years. We deliver high-quality government-funded Study Programmes, Apprenticeships and professional training across a wide range of sectors.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and learner-focused Support Tutor to join our growing 16–19 Study Programme team based in Birmingham City Centre.
Working alongside our experienced tutors, you will play a vital role in supporting young people to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to progress into apprenticeships, employment or further education. You will help deliver engaging learning experiences, provide pastoral support, monitor learner progress and ensure every learner receives the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.

Responsibilities and Duties
Learner Support
- Support tutors in the delivery of the 16–19 Study Programme.
- Provide one-to-one and small group learner support where required.
- Assist learners to develop employability, personal development and workplace skills.
- Motivate and encourage learners to achieve positive outcomes.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality and learner engagement.
- Support learners requiring additional guidance or intervention.
- Promote safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout programme delivery.
- Build positive relationships with learners, parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate.
Programme Delivery
- Assist with preparing learning resources, lesson materials and learner activities.
- Support classroom sessions, workshops and practical activities.
- Help maintain learner records, Individual Training Plans and progress documentation.
- Contribute to learner reviews and progression planning.
- Support the delivery of enrichment activities, employer engagement events and work placement preparation.
- Assist with Awarding Organisation paperwork and compliance documentation.
- Ensure learner files are accurate, complete and audit-ready.
Quality and Compliance
- Support continuous quality improvement across the Study Programme.
- Participate in standardisation meetings, staff development and CPD.
- Maintain accurate learner records using company systems.
- Ensure compliance with ESFA funding requirements and company procedures.
- Promote a positive learner experience that reflects Protocol's commitment to quality.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- Passion for supporting young people aged 16–19.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organised with strong attention to detail.
- IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, flexible and professional attitude.
Desirable
- Experience working within education, training or further education.
- Experience supporting young people or vulnerable learners.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding, Prevent and learner support.
- Teaching, assessing or coaching qualifications (or willingness to work towards these).

Working Week
Monday to Friday
8:00am – 4:00pm
(Some flexibility may be required to support learner activities and occasional events.)
