About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, energetic and people-focused Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team in the beautiful coastal village of Porthscatho.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a busy, much-loved traditional pub that has been lovingly restored, with a stunning garden and pergola, two kitchens and a varied food offering, alongside private functions and events.
You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager and wider management team to help create an exceptional experience for our guests while making sure our team feels supported, valued and proud of where they work.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves hospitality, someone who enjoys being on the floor, connecting with guests, supporting their team and making sure the smallest details are right.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the Restaurant Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub and restaurant.
- Taking an active role on the floor during busy services and leading by example.
- Helping to manage, motivate and develop the team.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Ensuring consistently high standards of service, food presentation and guest experience.
- Managing the flow of busy services and working closely with both kitchens to ensure smooth communication between the kitchen and front of house.
- Supporting the management of bookings, table plans and service pacing.
- Helping to coordinate private functions, parties and events from planning through to delivery.
- Managing ordering and stock levels.
- Completing regular stocktakes and maintaining accurate stock records, highlighting any discrepancies or areas of concern.
- Working closely with suppliers, kitchens and the wider management team to ensure deliveries, stock and ordering are well organised.
- Creating and maintaining cleaning schedules across the restaurant, bar, garden, pergola and guest areas, ensuring the venue is consistently clean, welcoming and looking its absolute best.
- Supporting stock control, cash handling and other day-to-day operational tasks.
- Ensuring licensing, health & safety, food safety and company procedures are followed.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a restaurant, pub, hotel or busy hospitality environment.
- Is confident leading a team during busy services.
- Has a genuine passion for great food, drinks and exceptional service.
- Enjoys developing people and bringing the best out in others.
- Is organised, proactive and able to think on their feet.
- Has excellent communication skills and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
- Understands that great hospitality is about both the guest and the team.
- Has high standards and takes pride in maintaining them.
- Is confident with stock, ordering and day-to-day operational administration.
- Notices the details, whether that's a dusty corner, an empty bottle, a table that needs attention or a team member who needs support.
