Private Sector Housing Manager
We’re currently working with a London based local authority to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to be responsible for improving housing conditions in the private rented and owner-occupied sector through carrying out the council’s duties in relation to private sector housing renewal advice, assistance and enforcement.
Daily Rate: £450 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: 6 months
Location: West London
Hours: 37 hours | Monday to Thursday 09:00 – 17:15 | Friday 09:00 – 17:00
Key duties:
- Lead and manage a high-quality, efficient and responsive Private Sector Housing service, ensuring it meets the needs of residents
- Improve housing conditions across the private rented and owner-occupied sectors through advice, assistance and enforcement activity
- Deliver the Council's statutory responsibilities relating to private sector housing renewal, regulation and enforcement
- Ensure full compliance with and implementation of the Renters' Rights Act 2025, responding to new tenancy protections, regulatory requirements and enforcement powers
- Lead the delivery of all statutory functions under the Housing Act 2004, including HHSRS inspections, enforcement action and property licensing regimes
- Oversee the identification, monitoring and intervention of empty properties to support housing supply and community regeneration
- Produce performance data, reports and service updates for senior leadership teams and Elected Members
- Monitor service performance, legislative changes and emerging trends to drive continuous improvement
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and best practice across private sector housing functions
- Build effective relationships with landlords, tenants, residents, partner agencies and other stakeholders to achieve positive housing outcomes
- Manage complex enforcement cases and ensure proportionate, legally compliant regulatory interventions are undertaken
- Lead, support and develop staff to deliver service objectives, statutory duties and corporate priorities
