Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Officer to oversee a range of finance and administrative functions. This hands-on role requires strong experience in transactional finance, including invoicing, purchase ledger, VAT, and tax compliance, alongside the ability to analyse financial data and produce accurate management reports within a fast-paced haulage environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, issue and manage weekly sales invoicing
- Process supplier invoices
- Prepare and process Sage Payroll for 60 staff on different pay structures
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Update cashflow
- Utilise Sage to record and reconcile financial data accurately.
- Maintain holiday/absence records
- Prepare payroll for processing
- Completing monthly bank and account reconciliations'
- Month-end close activities, including manual journal entries
- Prepare and produce monthly management accounts to shareholders
- Assist in the optimisation of financial processes and systems to improve efficiency.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Support the organisation’s financial planning and forecasting activities.

You will ideally have:
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience of working with Sage would be highly desirable
- Excellent analytical and organisational abilities
- AAT qualified, or part qualified CIMA or ACA
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership
- A confident effective communicator with personnel at all levels of the organisation
