Position overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures within the organization. Your focus will be on ensuring that the workplace is safe, compliant with regulatory standards, and promoting the well-being of all employees, customers and subcontractors.
Key responsibilities:
Safety Compliance & Monitoring:
- Develop and land the process in monitoring and enforcing workplace safety regulations to ensure compliance with safety polices, guidelines and laws.
- Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety compliance policies, procedures, and practices to ensure adherence to relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Manage compliance with CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations across the business, including conducting CDM assessments, liaising on contractor approvals, reviewing Pre-Construction Information, and managing site Health & Safety files.
Risk Assessment & Safety Audits:
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Conduct routine internal audits to identify potential hazards.
- Implement the development of corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure safety protocols are being followed.
Incident Reporting & Investigation:
- Respond to safety incidents or near-misses, ensuring all reports are completed accurately and investigating incidents to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Carry out and support in accident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Training & Awareness:
- Develop and be responsible for the delivery of safety training programs to employees on a range of topics including emergency procedures, safe handling of materials, and use of protective equipment.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to employees to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Emergency Response:
- Be responsible with the development and implementation of emergency response plans and ensuring that employees are properly trained in evacuation procedures, first aid, and fire safety.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date safety, health, and environmental documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, and safety meeting minutes.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and compliance activities.
Safety Equipment and Equipment Management:
- Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment are regularly inspected, maintained, and available for employees as needed.
- Ensure all equipment owned and used by the business and for business purposes is recorded, regularly inspected and fit for purpose.
Continuous Improvement:
- Work with other departments to promote a culture of safety and encourage continuous improvement in SHE practices throughout the organisation.
- Maintain updated knowledge of changes in health and safety laws and regulations, and ensure the company is informed and prepared.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
- Ensure regular health and safety communication with all areas of the workforce including, daily, weekly, monthly updates, emergency communications and changes in policies and procedures.
ISO / Accreditation Management:
· Be responsible for the maintenance and management of all accreditations, including Safe Contractor, CHAS, SMAS, Construction Line, Firas and all ISO certifications.
· Organise and lead all external audits set by the specific accreditation organisations.
Your agreed KPI’s that you will be accountable to achieve and reviewed in line with your 12 Month Performance Review with your Line Manager are.
People/Customer
· All Direct Reports to be fully competent within their job role and have monthly 121’s and 12-month Performance Review
Health & Safety
· To ensure all Direct Reports receive the necessary training and competency within all their given areas of Health & Safety responsibilities
· To demonstrate a pro-active leadership role in all aspects of Health & Safety Management
Auditing/Compliance
· Safety Exception Score – To achieve an ongoing target of 80%
· Incident Frequency Rate – Target to be under Industry benchmark
· Inspections / Audits Completion rate – To achieve monthly target
· Inspections / Audits Non-Conformances – To be actioned and closed within allocated timescale
· Subcontractor Compliance - To achieve an ongoing compliance of +90%
· Training Completion Rate – All Team Members to have received and completed job role specific Health & Safety training to a minimum of 95%
· SSIP open actions – Ongoing monitoring and review of all open actions
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
