We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial reporting, strong controls and practical commercial support across ActivInsights’ UK business, US business and holding company structure.
This is a hands-on senior finance role covering management accounts, budgets and forecasts, cash flow, payroll, VAT and compliance, audit preparation, R&D analysis, finance systems and stock accounting. Operational stock control and logistics sit with Supply Chain & Operations, with Finance retaining responsibility for stock accounting, valuation and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts
- Managing cash flow, banking, foreign currency and intercompany transactions
- Overseeing invoicing, credit control, purchase ledger and supplier payments
- Administering payroll, pensions, VAT and other statutory submissions
- Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and stock accounting
- Preparing year-end schedules and supporting external accountants and auditors
- Providing financial analysis for R&D claims, grants and business projects
- Supporting finance processes and compliance requirements for our US business
- Managing and developing the Accounts Assistant
- Improving and automating finance processes and controls
About you
You will be a practical and organised finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a varied, hands-on role within a growing SME.
You will ideally have:
- AAT Level 4 or an equivalent accounting qualification
- Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience
- Experience of payroll, VAT, cash flow and balance sheet reconciliations
- Confidence using Sage, Excel and accounting systems
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
Experience of multi-entity reporting, stock accounting, fixed assets, R&D analysis or foreign currency transactions would be advantageous.
