Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Pot Wash/Kitchen Assistant to join our busy Kitchen team. This role involves supporting the kitchen operations by ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, washing kitchen equipment and utensils, and assisting the kitchen team with basic food preparation and general kitchen duties.
Responsibilities
Pot Wash Duties
- Wash and sanitise pots, pans, trays, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment.
- Operate the dishwasher and ensure it is maintained and cleaned regularly.
- Keep all washing-up areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.
- Ensure clean equipment is returned promptly to the appropriate kitchen sections.
- Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with company procedures.
Kitchen Assistant Duties
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, washing, and portioning ingredients.
- Prepare simple items as directed by the kitchen team.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries following stock rotation procedures.
- Replenish kitchen supplies and ensure storage areas remain clean and organised.
- Help with the setup and clearing down of kitchen stations.
Cleaning & Hygiene
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
- Carry out daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
- Clean floors, walls, fridges, freezers, shelving, and food preparation areas.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH procedures.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment faults to the Head Chef.
Team Support
- Support chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods.
- Assist with event, conference, wedding, and banqueting preparation when required.
- Work flexibly across different kitchen areas as directed by management.
- Contribute to a positive and professional working environment.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
