We work with a range of UK employers actively hiring across these roles.
Job Description:
UK-Based (Remote-First / Hybrid, UK Wide)
About the Roles
We're looking for exceptional AI Transformation Leaders at all levels—from AI Transformation Lead and Head of AI through to Director of AI, AI Strategy Lead and Chief AI Officer—for upcoming roles where artificial intelligence is reshaping how organisations operate, compete and grow. These are the leaders turning AI from a boardroom talking point into real, adopted, value-generating capability.
You'll own the AI agenda end-to-end—strategy, delivery, governance, people and change—while keeping a clear head about what genuinely creates value in a famously hype-prone field. The role suits a leader who pairs deep technical breadth across the modern AI and data stack with the commercial nous and executive presence to make AI a board-level conversation and the change leadership to make it actually stick.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the AI transformation strategy and roadmap in service of the wider business strategy
- Identify, prioritise and deliver high-value AI and generative AI use cases
- Lead AI initiatives end-to-end—from opportunity through production to genuine adoption
- Build the operating model—teams, governance and ways of working—for AI at scale
- Establish AI governance, ethics, risk and responsible-AI frameworks
- Partner with the executive team and board to build and defend the case for AI investment
- Drive the organisational change, upskilling and adoption that make transformation real
- Lead platform, partner and build-vs-buy decisions across the AI and data stack
- Measure and communicate value—ROI, productivity and business outcomes
- Stay ahead of a fast-moving field and separate genuine value from hype
What You'll Bring
Leadership Expertise:
- Demonstrable track record delivering AI, data or digital transformation at pace and scale
- Experience building and leading multidisciplinary teams across data, ML, engineering, product and change
- Credibility and communication at executive and board level
- Change leadership—landing adoption and new ways of working, not just technology
Technical Breadth:
- Strong literacy across the modern AI and data stack—machine learning, generative AI and LLMs, data platforms and MLOps
- Confident on architecture, platform and build-vs-buy decisions without needing to write the code
- Understanding of AI governance, ethics, security and regulation (EU AI Act, the UK's approach and sector rules)
- The judgement to separate genuine capability from hype across GenAI, agents and automation
Commercial & Soft Skills:
- Translating AI capability into commercial outcomes leaders can act on
- Executive storytelling—making AI legible to a non-technical audience
- Cross-functional leadership across technology, operations, risk and the business
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and a genuinely fast-moving field
- A talent magnet who can attract and retain scarce AI expertise
Domain Flexibility:
- Roles span financial services, retail and consumer, healthcare, public sector, manufacturing, professional services and technology
- Background in any of these is welcomed; appetite to step into an adjacent sector valued just as much
Experience Level:
- Typically 8+ years for AI Transformation Lead, 12+ for Head of / Director, 15+ for Chief AI Officer; specific scope varies by level
- Background in AI, data or digital transformation leadership, with at least one prior role owning transformation at programme or function level
- Examples of AI initiatives or transformations you've owned end-to-end and the value they delivered
What We Offer
- The opportunity to own the AI agenda at the exact moment it's reshaping entire industries
- Roles where AI is a genuine strategic priority with executive backing, not a side project
- Levels of seniority that match your trajectory—Lead through to Chief AI Officer
- Cultures where the AI leader sits at the executive table
- Clear scope to shape the strategy, the platform, the team and the governance
- Remote-first and hybrid working, UK wide, with supportive executive peers
