St Hilda's Priory is a small and friendly care home, set within a religious community for Anglican nuns and those associated with the religious community, on the outskirts of Whitby. The Priory sits within extensive grounds and gardens with views of the surrounding area. It is within walking distance of Whitby town centre and bus routes to both Scarborough and Middlesbrough.
The role involves all aspects of holistic care and support for our elderly, frail or rehabilitating Sisters and residents such as personal care, mobility and transfer, food and nutrition, emotional, psychological, social, and physical care needs. As a religious community we support spiritual and religious needs and provide care with a Christian focus.
Candidates should ideally have previous experience in care. They should be able to work independently or as part of a team, have good communication and interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn. Although the role involves working with a senior care assistant, applicants should be able to take on additional responsibility when there is a service need. We encourage personal and professional development with opportunities to complete further training.
We operate a 12- hour shift system, to cover the full 24- hour period. This role is primarily to cover day shifts; however, candidates must be willing to work over the full 24-hour period, including night duty when there is a service need. You will be joining a small well established team of dedicated care staff working in a small two- three person team each shift. Hours can be flexible and part time hours may be considered, although this post is a full time position of 36 hours per week.
