We are looking for an experienced Senior Commercial & Compliance Paralegal to join DD Group on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role can be worked 4 or 5 days per week, with remote and flexible working arrangements available.
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, you will provide practical commercial legal and compliance support across DD Group's operations in the UK, Europe and Africa. This is a varied role covering commercial contracts, data protection and compliance, corporate governance and legal operations, as well as supporting strategic projects across our growing international business.
- Draft, review and support the negotiation of supplier, distribution, customer and other commercial agreements.
- Carry out first-pass reviews of more complex contracts, identifying key legal and commercial risks and escalating where appropriate.
- Provide practical support on day-to-day legal queries from stakeholders across the Group.
- Coordinate data protection matters, including data incidents, data subject access requests and records of processing activities.
- Maintain and support the development of compliance policies, registers and documentation.
- Support GDPR, anti-financial crime and other Group compliance programmes.
- Maintain corporate records and support company secretarial requirements across multiple jurisdictions, including Companies House filings.
- Manage KYC, corporate due diligence and related information requests.
- Support strategic business projects, including acquisitions and other transformation initiatives, through legal due diligence, information gathering and project coordination.
- Coordinate legal requests and support effective matter and contract management.
- Develop and maintain legal templates and precedents and identify opportunities to improve, simplify and automate legal processes.
We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, highly organised and comfortable taking ownership of their work. You will ideally have:
- Around 4+ years' relevant experience as a commercial or compliance paralegal, chartered legal executive or in a similar legal role. We will also consider candidates who can demonstrate an equivalent depth of relevant experience.
- Strong experience drafting and reviewing commercial contracts.
- Experience supporting data protection, GDPR and compliance matters.
- Some exposure to company secretarial or corporate governance work.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A practical, commercially focused approach to legal and compliance issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders at different levels.
- The ability to work independently, use good judgement and recognise when matters should be escalated.
- Experience gained in-house or within healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals or another regulated sector would be advantageous.
- Experience of international businesses, legal operations, M&A or corporate transactions would also be beneficial.
- Proficiency in another European language would be an advantage but is not essential.
- £50,000–£60,000 FTE, depending on experience.
- A 12-month fixed-term contract with the option to work 4 or 5 days per week.
