JOB PURPOSE/PROFILE
As a Commercial Vehicle Body Shop Technician, you will play a crucial role in assessing, maintaining and repairing vehicles to the highest standards. Your expertise in body shop work and general automotive systems will contribute to our commitment to quality craftsmanship
SCOPE OF ROLE
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect vehicles to determine repair scope, deciding between repair or replacement of parts.
Straighten bent frames/chassis and realign unibody structures using specialized equipment.
Hammer out dents, patch holes, and fabricate new panels from sheet metal.
Component Repair/Replacement: Remove, repair, or replace damaged parts
Join metal parts using welding and soldering techniques.
Clean, sand, prime, and prepare repaired areas for painting; perform spray painting in a booth.
Inspect completed work to meet high standards, ensuring vehicles are safe, functional, and visually appealing.
Liaise with customers to understand needs, provide cost estimates, and coordinate with other shop personnel.
Adhere to safety protocols, wear proper PPE, and maintain a clean, organized workspace and tools.
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A minimum of three years of experience in a similar HGV/trailer maintenance and repair environment is typically required.
Proficiency with welding (MIG/TIG), power tools (grinders, sanders), and diagnostic equipment.
An "eye for detail" is critical for matching paint colours and ensuring smooth surface finishes.
Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, problem-solving, communication, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Understanding of relevant safety regulations (OSHA, hazardous waste) and automotive systems.
Confident communicating with technicians, suppliers, customers, and management.
Vocational training or experience in auto body repair preferred

Pay: £15.50-£17.50 per hour
