We're looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to join our Standards & Performance team and play a key role in delivering vessel improvement projects that enhance the reliability, resilience and performance of our fleet.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of technical projects, from vessel modifications and upgrades to system improvements, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
Working closely with vessel crews, technical specialists, contractors and industry stakeholders, you'll oversee projects from concept through to commissioning, helping drive innovation and continuous improvement across our fleet.
What You'll Be Doing

Managing the delivery of technical and vessel improvement projects from planning through to completion.
- Developing project plans, managing budgets and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Coordinating contractors, suppliers and technical teams to deliver successful project solutions.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vessel crews, regulatory bodies and specialist contractors.
- Supporting continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned and enhancing project management processes.
- Acting as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and support across the business.
- Regular travel within the CalMac west coast network
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a proactive and solutions-focused project professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced operational environment.
You'll bring:

Proven experience leading technical or engineering projects.
- A recognised engineering, marine or project management qualification.
- Strong planning, budgeting and contractor management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- The ability to think strategically while maintaining focus on delivery.
- A collaborative approach and a passion for driving improvements.
Marine, shipping or fleet management experience would be highly advantageous.
