Talstaff are working in partnership with our client, a National Transport Company are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join their existing team in Rotherham.
The Role:
To plan the daily general haulage delivery routes, liaise with customers, communicate with drivers, supporting the Transport team. To ensure service levels and key performance indicators are routinely maintained.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To communicate & liaise with both customers and drivers in relation to the day to day planning.
- To plan and route 60+ HGV drivers daily using a Road Runner system.
- To have excellent customer service skills, speak to customers daily regarding their requirements and deal with any issues that may arise with the support of the Transport Manager.
- To prepare driver labour plan for next day deployment and allocation to vehicles to meet delivery requirements for the network activity operating within the Business. Inform the relevant people (s) for authorisation for agency cover.
- Control all driver out-briefs/debriefs whilst on shift and ensure all issues from them are reported and actioned.
- To ensure all timed deliveries meet their deadlines and update spreadsheet information cascading information to all relevant parties.
- Immediate escalation of matters that impact on operations with timely liaison through communication with the Transport Manager.
- Preparation and communication of formal handover plan to the night shift supervisor providing written report and update on status, service failure, and resources availability.
- Update all reports where appropriate, scanning & filing away the days paperwork into relevant files etc
- KPI reporting to Senior Management
- To adhere and promote all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Training Requirements
- Previous Transport Planning experience
- PC Literate
- Good communicator / Organised and methodical
- Ability to work within a deadline orientated Transport operation
- Excellent customer service
