Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your extensive knowledge and experience in carpentry to execute a wide range of construction tasks, including framing, roofing, formwork, flooring, and other structural elements.
- Work collaboratively with the construction team to carry out carpentry tasks according to project plans and specifications, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Assist in the procurement and management of carpentry materials, ensuring proper usage and minimizing waste.
- Maintain a high level of workmanship and attention to detail, ensuring all carpentry work meets industry standards and client expectations.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with team members, supervisors, and clients to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.
- Staying up to date with relevant NZ building codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure all work is in compliance with legal requirements.
Tasks and Duties:
- You will be involved in the construction of buildings, houses, and other structures. You may work on framing, roofing, flooring, and other structural components.
- Install interior and exterior doors, windows, cabinets, staircases, and other fixtures in buildings. You will ensure they are level, plumb, and operate smoothly and are safe. This includes installing door and window frames, hinges, handles, and any additional hardware required.
- You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining existing structures. This may involve fixing damaged woodwork, replacing worn-out parts, or reinforcing weak areas.
- You may undertake custom woodworking, creating unique pieces of furniture, cabinetry, and decorative elements.
- You will work with a wide range of tools and equipment, such as saws, hammers, drills, levels, and measuring devices.
- You will interpret construction blueprints and plans to understand the layout and dimensions of the concrete structures they are building. You will assemble and erect the formwork according to the design and ensure it is sturdy and secure.
- You will install bracing and anchoring systems to support formwork and install steel reinforcement base (rebar) inside the concrete formwork before concrete pouring.
- You will install various types of trim and moulding, such as baseboards, crown moulding, chair rails, and window and door casings.
- You will build and install kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and built-in storage units. You may also create custom cabinetry to fit specific spaces.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Possess a recognized trade qualification in carpentry
- Possess at least 3 years of relevant carpentry experience in the construction industry
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
- Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to find practical solutions independently or as part of a team.
- Hold a valid driver's license for potential travel to project sites.
Visa & Relocation Info
The successful applicant will be able to apply for a 5 year temporary work visa, which our team can assist you with. A standard work visa is 5 years in duration and during the validity of this work visa an applicant can look at their eligibility to apply for residency to remain in New Zealand permanently.
There is a relocation package is dependant on the employer offering the role. Some employers do not offer a relocation package, whilst some employers provide $5000 + to support travel and settlement. Regardless of whether a relocation package is provided the recruiter will provide relocation support, such as setting up bank accounts, setting up IRD Tax numbers, arranging removals and temporary and long term accommodation, amongst other relocation support.
The roles available are nationwide in New Zealand, if a candidate is successful he/she may be able to get multiple roles in deferent locations nationwide in New Zealand and will have the opportunity to choose which role they will accept.
