About Miller House
Miller House is a specialist therapeutic children's home providing residential care for children and young people with complex mental health, SEMH, autism, trauma, attachment and behavioural needs. Our practice is relationship-based, trauma-informed and autism-informed, promoting Positive Behaviour Support, therapeutic parenting and least restrictive practice.
Purpose of the Role
The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in leading the day-to-day operation of Miller House, ensuring safe, therapeutic and relationship-based care whilst maintaining excellent safeguarding, leadership, compliance and outcomes for children.
Main Responsibilities
· Deputise for the Registered Manager.
· Lead shifts and provide operational leadership.
· Support delivery of the home's Statement of Purpose.
· Lead by example and promote therapeutic practice.
· Coach, supervise and develop staff.
· Ensure high-quality Care Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, Therapeutic Safety Plans and Risk Assessments.
· Monitor children's progress and outcomes.
· Attend reviews and professionals' meetings.
· Support recruitment, induction and safer recruitment.
Leadership & Management Responsibilities
· Complete supervision, probation reviews and appraisals.
· Lead reflective practice and post-incident learning.
· Promote staff wellbeing and accountability.
· Manage performance concerns appropriately.
· Maintain effective communication across the leadership team.
Safeguarding & Risk Management
· Lead safeguarding practice.
· Support children with complex SEMH, trauma, attachment, autism and mental health needs.
· Lead responses to emotional dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, missing-from-care incidents and behaviours that challenge.
· Complete dynamic risk assessments.
· Promote least restrictive practice.
Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance
· Support Ofsted readiness.
· Complete audits and quality assurance.
· Monitor recording standards.
· Support Regulation 44 action plans.
· Ensure documentation remains inspection ready.
Recording & Documentation
· Maintain and quality assure records using ClearCare.
· Ensure incident and physical intervention records are completed before staff leave shift.
· Produce high-quality reports for professionals.
Operational Responsibilities
· Participate in the on-call rota.
· Drive the home's vehicles.
· Work flexibly including long days, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.
· Respond to emergencies outside normal hours where required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
· Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
· Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards).
· Minimum two years' experience in a Senior Residential Support Worker, Deputy Manager or equivalent leadership role.
· Experience leading teams supporting children with complex mental health, SEMH, trauma, attachment and autism.
· Experience supporting emotional dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, missing-from-care risks and behaviours that challenge.
· Experience using electronic care management systems; ClearCare preferred.
· Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience
· Current accredited physical intervention/restraint training (e.g. No Fear, Team Teach, MAPA, CPI or equivalent).
· Experience leading approved physical interventions safely.
· Mental Health First Aid.
· Autism-specific training.
· Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections.

Pay: £34,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
