Kennet Clean Co. is looking for reliable, detail-oriented cleaners to join our network of self-employed cleaning contractors, providing regular and one-off residential cleans across Reading, Wokingham and surrounding areas.
If you’re an experienced cleaner looking for additional local cleaning work while maintaining the flexibility of working for yourself, we’d love to hear from you.
Rates
Most standard cleans pay approximately £35–£65 per job, depending on the size of the property and type of clean.
Deep cleans, end-of-tenancy cleans and other larger assignments pay more.
The rate for each job will be provided before you decide whether to accept it, and you’ll be paid promptly for completed work.

The Work
Assignments may include:
- Weekly and fortnightly residential cleans
- One-off home cleans
- Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas
- Occasional deep cleans
- End-of-tenancy cleans
- Other residential cleaning assignments
Depending on the assignment, you may work independently or alongside another self-employed contractor.
We’re looking for cleaners who take pride in their work and can deliver the consistently high standard our customers expect.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous cleaning experience, either professionally or through your own cleaning business
- Your own transport and ability to travel to customers’ homes across Reading, Wokingham and surrounding areas
- Reliable, trustworthy and comfortable working independently in customers’ homes
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication and a genuinely conscientious approach to your work
- The right to work in the UK
- Your own public liability insurance
Self-Employed Contractor Terms
This is a self-employed subcontractor opportunity and not an employed position with Kennet Clean Co.
You’ll provide cleaning services under a subcontractor agreement and invoice Kennet Clean Co. for completed assignments.
You’ll be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance obligations, including registering with HMRC where required and completing Self Assessment.
There are no guaranteed minimum hours or assignments, and you’re free to provide cleaning services to your own customers or work with other companies alongside Kennet Clean Co.
You can choose whether to accept individual assignments offered to you. The rate and requirements for an assignment will be provided before you accept it.
You’ll need appropriate public liability insurance. If you’re new to self-employment, we can point you towards information on arranging suitable cover.
