About the role: Early Years Educator
To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. Planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals and groups. Appropriately monitoring and assessing children’s learning and development and recording and reporting their progress/outcomes in accordance with agreed procedures.
Essential knowledge:
- A sound understanding of early childhood development and learning and a willingness to continue to develop this knowledge.
- An awareness of good hygiene practices.
- An understanding of the need to observe and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team of early years' professionals.
Essential skills and abilities:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Effective use of ICT is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to successfully complete an induction programme.
- Ability to understand and comply with relevant policies/codes of practice and legislation.
- Ability to work as part of a team and relate well to all ages.
- Ability to communicate and form positive relationships.
- Be sensitive to the needs and welfare of others.
Essential experience:
- Have experience of working with adults and young children, preferably within a variety of settings and from a range of linguistic background.
- To have had experience of being part of a team.
Special Conditions:
- NVQ3 in Childcare and Education (or equivalent).
- Have a positive attitude and enjoy working with young children and their parents/carers.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
