Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Dispensing Optician / Experienced Optical Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will support the delivery of exceptional eye care services by assisting with patient consultations, lens and frame selections, and optical measurements. Your expertise will help ensure smooth clinic operations while providing friendly, professional service that enhances the patient experience. Part-time or full-time hours will be considered.
We are open to discussing the options of either an experienced DO, newly qualified / trainee DO or experienced Optical Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and guide them through the optical consultation process with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Assist with frame selection by understanding patient preferences, face shape, and style considerations
- Conduct precise optical measurements, including pupillary distance and lens prescriptions, ensuring accuracy for optimal vision correction
- Support the dispensing of glasses and contact lenses, providing clear instructions on usage and care
- Maintain detailed records of patient interactions, measurements, and prescriptions to ensure seamless follow-up care
- Educate patients on eye health, lens options, and maintenance to promote ongoing eye care awareness
Requirements
- Dispensing Optician Qualification and GOC registration or proven experience as an Optical Assistant or in a similar optical retail or clinical setting
- Excellent communication skills to engage with diverse patients confidently and empathetically
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- A proactive attitude with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service
- Relevant certifications or training in optics or ophthalmic assisting are advantageous but not essential.

Pay: £12.71-£15.50 per hour
