Job Summary
The Senior Accounts Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring the accurate processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and assisting with reporting and month-end activities. The role requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with strong accounts payable, credit control, and reconciliation experience, as well as the ability to identify and implement process improvements within the finance function.
Duties
- Manage the purchase ledger function, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and process supplier payment runs, ensuring all payments are made within agreed terms.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
- Support credit control activities by monitoring customer accounts, chasing outstanding payments, and reducing aged debt.
- Process financial transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, journals, and ledger adjustments.
- Perform account reconciliations, including supplier, customer, bank, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Respond promptly and professionally to supplier and customer queries.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure the smooth running of financial processes.
- Undertake any other finance-related duties as reasonably required by management.
Experience
- Previous experience in a Senior Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
- Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, accounts payable, credit control, and account reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
