Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Wig Maker to join our team on a flexible, self-employed basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing, repairing, altering, and maintaining high-quality wigs and hairpieces to the highest professional standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled craftsperson who is passionate about creating natural-looking wigs and understands the importance of attention to detail and client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct bespoke wigs, hairpieces, toppers, and facial hair pieces using a range of techniques.
- Undertake alterations, repairs, resizing, and maintenance of wigs.
- Ventilate hair by hand using single and multiple knot techniques where required.
- Prepare wig bases, lace fronts, monofilament, and other specialist cap constructions.
- Colour match, customise, and finish wigs to client specifications.
- Ensure all work meets Raoul Wigmakers' quality standards.
- Work to agreed deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed.
- Handle client products and confidential information with care and professionalism.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a wig maker or ventilator.
- Excellent hand-knotting and ventilation skills.
- Experience working with both human hair and synthetic fibre wigs.
- Knowledge of lace, monofilament, polyurethane, and other wig base materials.
- Strong attention to detail and high-quality finishing skills.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently while meeting agreed deadlines.
- A commitment to providing exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
