We have an exciting opportunity to join a welcoming and supportive SEND school in St Albans as a SEND Support Assistant. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
The school is committed to providing a personalised, engaging, and multi-sensory approach to learning, enabling every pupil to reach their full potential.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND.
- Support pupils with their learning, communication, and social development.
- Assist pupils during therapy sessions and follow individual support plans.
- Help prepare learning resources and classroom activities.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet pupils' individual needs.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in the UK is essential (Experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant or Learning Support Assistant is desired)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred, although we can help you obtain one if required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
