Face-to-face | 1:1 tuition | Flexible hours | Competitive hourly rate
Able Tutors is a well-established London tutoring agency supporting children and young people across mainstream, SEND and alternative-provision settings.
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate SEN / SEND Tutor to provide personalised, face-to-face 1:1 tuition in Enfield, London. You will support a learner who may be unable to access full-time mainstream education, helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence and make meaningful academic progress.
The role

- Adapt teaching, resources and pace to meet the learner’s individual educational, social and emotional needs.
- Support learners with a range of needs, which may include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH, anxiety, school avoidance or other SEND.
- Plan lessons around each learner’s current attainment, EHCP targets where applicable, interests and long-term goals.
- Build a calm, trusting and positive relationship that promotes engagement and confidence.
- Assess progress regularly and provide concise feedback to Able Tutors and, where appropriate, the parent/carer or professional network.
- Maintain accurate lesson records and communicate professionally with the Able Tutors team.
Essential requirements
- A relevant degree; QTS, PGCE or a recognised teaching qualification is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 100 hours’ teaching or tutoring experience using the UK National Curriculum.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or within alternative provision.
- A flexible, patient and learner-centred approach, with the ability to adapt teaching for individual needs.
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science; GCSE experience is desirable.
- An Enhanced DBS check issued within the last three years, including the children’s barred list, or willingness to obtain one before starting.
- Two recent professional references who can verify your teaching, tutoring or SEND experience.
- Ability to travel reliably to Enfield for face-to-face tuition.
- Availability during school hours and/or after school and at weekends, depending on the learner’s timetable.
- Excellent professional communication, reliability and a strong commitment to safeguarding.
Why join Able Tutors?
- Competitive hourly pay based on your qualifications, experience and the learner’s level of need.
- Flexible work that fits around your existing teaching or professional commitments.
- Meaningful 1:1 work with learners who benefit from consistent, specialist support.
- Regular tuition opportunities throughout the academic year.
- Long-term placements and repeat referrals where there is a strong tutor–learner match.
- Dedicated, friendly support from an experienced management team.
- Minimal administration, allowing you to focus on high-quality tuition.
- Access to guidance and resources where required.
