Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and organised Post Office Counter Clerk to provide excellent customer service at our busy postal branch. The successful candidate will handle a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting customers with postal services, managing transactions, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with postal transactions including mailing parcels, selling stamps, and processing packages
- Provide information on postal products and services accurately and efficiently
- Operate computer systems to process transactions using software such as Microsoft Office and horizon system
- Manage data entry tasks with high accuracy, maintaining up-to-date records of customer transactions
- Handle big cash transactions and currency exchange with precision and accuracy in counting and transactions
- Maintain organisation of the counter area to ensure a clean and welcoming environment
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, sorting parcels and managing major daily cash flows.
- Assist in stock management and report inventory levels as required
Requirements
- Previous office experience or clerical experience is desirable
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), horizon systems.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Good typing speed and data entry accuracy
- Demonstrable accuracy in cash counting and currency exchange transactions
- Administrative experience with familiarity in handling postal or retail transactions is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Organised with strong organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
