Join The Murmur
The Murmur is a brand-new specialty coffee and tea house launching across two locations — a relaunch in Cardiff and a second site in the Vale of Glamorgan.
We’re looking for an experienced, confident and friendly Front-of-House team member with strong barista skills to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on hospitality role for someone who enjoys working directly with customers while also being confident behind the coffee machine.
THE ROLE
As a Front-of-House & Barista Team Member, you’ll be an important part of the customer experience at The Murmur.
You’ll be responsible for creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere while delivering excellent service and consistently high-quality coffee and drinks.
Your role will include:
- Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional service
- Taking orders and operating the till/EPOS system
- Preparing and serving specialty coffee to a high standard
- Confidently using a commercial espresso machine
- Preparing espresso-based drinks and steaming/texturing milk
- Maintaining consistency, speed and quality during busy periods
- Serving teas, cold drinks and other menu items
- Serving food and supporting the wider front-of-house operation
- Maintaining a clean, organised and presentable service area
- Following food hygiene, health and safety procedures
- Supporting the team during busy services and events
- Helping create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers
EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL
We are looking for someone with previous front-of-house hospitality experience and genuine barista expertise.
You should have experience working in a café, coffee shop, restaurant, hotel or similar hospitality environment and be comfortable working in a busy customer-facing setting.
You should be confident with:
- Commercial espresso machines
- Coffee preparation and presentation
- Milk steaming and texturing
- Customer service and hospitality
- Taking orders and handling payments
- Working efficiently under pressure
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
A passion for specialty coffee is highly desirable.

- Weekend and some evening availability

ABOUT THE MURMUR
The Murmur is more than a coffee shop — we’re creating a community space where specialty coffee meets creativity.
We’ll serve premium loose-leaf teas, own-brand roasted coffee, breakfast and lunch, smoothies, milkshakes, hot chocolates and a curated grab-and-go range.
Our spaces will also feature rotating exhibitions, live creative sessions and events, creating a unique environment where coffee, food, art and community come together.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Applicants must be 16+
- Previous front-of-house and barista experience is essential
- Applicants must be comfortable working weekends and some evenings
- All applicants are subject to a right-to-work check
- This is a customer-facing, hands-on hospitality position
