OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to oversee manufacturing operations for our range of Nigerian traditional and contemporary wear. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team and optimise production workflows by adapting advanced lean manufacturing systems to suit craft-focused garment production. The successful applicant will possess strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of textile manufacturing processes, and proficiency with production planning software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily production activities to meet organisational targets while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards for Nigerian wear including Ankara, Senator suits, Agbada, lace garments, Bubu, Ewu ati Sokoto, and Dansiki.
- Lead process improvement projects to optimise manufacturing workflows and reduce waste through lean methodologies adapted for small-batch, high-craftsmanship production.
- Oversee quality control procedures to ensure products meet specified standards for intricate detailing, fit, and finish, aligning with customer expectations and brand values.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams to ensure timely procurement of traditional and specialty materials, and manage inventory levels to support smooth operations.
- Utilise production planning software and Microsoft Office Suite to plan, monitor, and report on production performance metrics including output, lead times, and material usage.
- Supervise all production operations, providing guidance on garment construction techniques, fabric handling, and troubleshooting craftsmanship-related challenges.
- Develop and implement strategies for process enhancement, flexible production systems, and integration of traditional techniques with modern manufacturing practices.
- Lead a team of tailors, cutters, finishers, and supervisors, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional development in craftsmanship skills.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, company policies, and ethical manufacturing standards across all production areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in garment manufacturing or production management with a focus on craft-based or specialty apparel.
- Strong knowledge of production planning systems, inventory management, and textile supply chain processes.
- Demonstrable expertise in lean manufacturing methodologies with the ability to adapt them for non-mass production environments.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian traditional wear construction, fabrics, and techniques, with the ability to guide technical execution and troubleshoot quality issues effectively.
- Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity while preserving craftsmanship standards.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple production runs and priorities efficiently.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills to motivate teams and collaborate across design, sales, and supply chain departments.
- Relevant qualifications in Production Management, Textile Technology, Fashion Manufacturing, or related fields are desirable but not essential. This role is ideal for a proactive leader committed to operational excellence who thrives in a fast-paced environment that balances efficiency with artisanal quality.
Pay: £12.21-£38,500.00 per year
