An exciting opportunity has become available for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Sefton. Providing vital support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the school’s SEND department to provide tailored support, ensuring students with additional needs can access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive environment.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of SEND needs
- Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, differentiated learning activities both in and out of the classroom
- Support students’ academic progress, social development, emotional wellbeing, and independence
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and confidence
- Collaborate with teachers, the SENDCO, parents/carers, and external agencies to support individual learning plans and achieve positive outcomes
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEND in a secondary or similar educational setting is desirable
- Has a patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs
- Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, colleagues, and families
- Is adaptable, resilient, and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed both academically and personally
