ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Groundworker, you will carry out a range of civil and groundworks activities across our High Wycombe-based housing contract, working to specification, programme and the highest standards of safety and quality. You will be involved in excavation, drainage, kerbing, paving and foundation work, supporting both new-build and refurbishment activity on occupied residential sites.
Working under the direction of the Site Manager and alongside other trades, you will help ensure works are sequenced correctly, resident access and security requirements are respected, and all groundworks are completed safely, efficiently and right first time.
This role sits within our Vivo housing contract, delivering essential refurbishment and estate improvement works for residents across the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out groundworks including excavation, drainage, kerbing, paving and foundation work.
- Read and interpret site drawings, setting-out information and specifications.
- Install below-ground drainage, ducting and services in line with design requirements.
- Lay kerbs, paving, slabbing and hard landscaping to a high standard of workmanship.
- Support concreting works including shuttering, formwork and finishing.
- Operate hand tools and small plant safely, and where certified, ride-on and compact plant.
- Work safely within occupied residential and MOD housing environments, respecting resident access, security protocols and site rules.
- Follow RAMS, safe systems of work and site inductions at all times.
- Keep work areas safe, tidy and compliant with health, safety and environmental standards.
- Report defects, delays, material shortages or issues to the Site Manager promptly.
- Assist other trades and the wider site team as required to maintain programme.
- Attend toolbox talks, briefings and site meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed where required for audit and compliance purposes.
- Contribute to a positive site culture focused on safety, quality and right-first-time delivery.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you'll be a reliable, safety-conscious Groundworker who takes pride in the quality of your work. You'll be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, confident working in occupied residential environments, and able to work well as part of a wider site team.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as a Groundworker within construction, refurbishment or housing/estates environments.
- Valid CSCS card (Groundworker or relevant category).
- DBS Basic
- Experience with drainage, kerbing, paving, foundations and general civils work.
- Ability to read and work from basic site drawings and setting-out plans.
- Comfortable using hand tools and small plant safely.
- Strong awareness of health and safety on live construction sites.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
DESIRABLE
- CPCS or NPORS plant tickets (e.g. dumper, excavator, roller).
- First Aid at Work.
- Experience working on MOD, government or other secure/restricted access housing contracts.
- Experience working within occupied residential or live public sector schemes.

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
