We are looking for a reliable 2nd Man Labourer to support our drainage engineers in day-to-day drainage and groundworks operations. The role involves assisting with drainage installations, site preparation, and reinstatement works while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment on site.
This position is ideal for someone with labouring or groundworks experience who is keen to learn and develop within the drainage industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist drainage engineers with installing land drains, soakaways, gullies, and surface water drainage systems.
- Support excavation works, pipe laying, and site preparation.
- Help with patching and reinstatement works following drainage repairs (e.g. tarmac, concrete, paving, and backfilling).
- Operate hand tools and small plant safely when required (e.g. breakers, compactors, pumps).
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment on site.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with company and council standards.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including confined space safety where required.
- Assist with basic paperwork, job sheets, and photos of completed works.
- Communicate professionally with engineers, supervisors, and residents on site.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience as a labourer or in construction/groundworks (drainage experience is an advantage but not essential).
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good understanding of basic health and safety practices on site.
- Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred).
