Job Summary
As the Chef Assistant, you are responsible for helping to manage (under the supervision of the Head Chef) the operation of the kitchen including food production, staff management, supplies, presentation/service and record management and compliance with quality and safety standards. This is a paid, part-time role (11:00pm–3:00pm, Monday–Sunday first 2 months and after any shift between 11am-11pm ) and is paid at the national minimum wage. It is ideal for candidates looking to develop their skills in hospitality and must be flexible.
Some of your duties will include:
- Preparing, cooking and serving of delicious and nutritious hot and cold meals, as and when required.
- Ensuring all meals are of the highest possible quality and attractively presented.
- Providing for special dietary requirements where necessary and taking into account the preferences of individual Clients
- Helping with deliveries and restocking
- Assisting with stock rotation Cleaning stations
- Contributing to maintain kitchen and food safety standards
Skills and qualifications and experience required:
- Level 3 Food Safety Award
- Minimum 6 month relevant experience
- Awareness of manual handling techniques, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
- Experience of kitchen equipment, such as dangerous knifes
- Good communication and team player skills.
- High level of attention to detail
- Spanish language would be desirable
Hours of work: An average of 20-30 hours a week - shift work
First 2 months - preparation in the morning 11am-3pm
Next 2 months - Grill / Fryer in the morning or afternoon or both
Next 2 months - Plating / Assembly into finished dish any day of the week and time.
